History of Vioxx and its recall by Merck

Several readers have written to ask us about the history of Vioxx and how it was marketed by Merck. So we put our team to dig into the annual reports from 1999 to 2003 and here are our findings. The title on the cover page of Merck's 1999 annual report (the only year in which Vioxx was featured on the cover of its annual report) declares, "Vioxx: Our biggest, fastest and best launch ever."
