On TV last night was an ad for Procrit, aimed directly at patients. This drug is used to treat the negative effects of chemotherapy in cancer sufferers. I was wondering why the ad was on TV. Are the pharmas trying to drum up demand because physicians aren't smart enough to recognize the need? Do doctors find the drug only marginally useful and won't prescribe it unless some whiny old patient demands it? Do elderly females marginally employed as school crossing guards really respond with giddy a ... (more)
